We burst out everywhere, your eyes were drawn in by our bodies, our perfume followed you and we accepted your serene songs, your smiles and pictures. We liked how you boasted about our first blossoming appearance in your lives; we were proud and happy to bring you joy, that was our purpose. We never told you how much we suffered when our petals were often game meat for wind and rain. Bravery is our true essence, and we are confident that spring always prevails thanks to us, the ones to turn green first.

Life with him taught me not to be selfish. When he said his vows at the altar, until death do us part, I believed he would not miss any holiday in our lives. Because we loved each other. But he had taken another oath when he finished medical school. In time I understood. I got used to being by myself, on my birthday, on our anniversary, because souls still alive in burned bodies desperately needed him. He was so kind. And he gave me some of his joy, too. Lives saved; my favorite flowers.

Haughty chickens, with fake crests and feathers puffed up by renowned stylists, filled up the front rows, with the commotion of a barnyard. Everyone froze and the screens showed in very small letters: in the beginning was the word.
