I look at you, you cry, a tear drops, the second tear drops, you wipe them with the back of your hand and sigh, here I should have intervened, to hug you, to tell you how much I love you, to swear by everything that I hold dear that it's not a lie, to make a funny face, to make you laugh and forget the tears, to hold you in my arms and spin you around, and then promise you that everything will be alright, that someone will find us, and you would have put your head on my shoulder and fall asleep. In reality, it's already morning and I haven't dared yet. I'm a little uptight.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
