I'm 2 years old and I'm left with one parent out of two. I'm 6 years old and mom's reproachfully saying I only got sick to spite her. I'm 17 and he calls me a whore in front of my laughing friends. I'm 25, divorced, with no one understanding why, and I'm crying. I'm 32 and I've already known for a while that nothing makes sense. I'm however many years have passed multiplied by all the fears that are to come. I'm here, but also in all the places where I've died before.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
