As the cow cannot bear to be without her calf or the ewe without her lamb, so may-tell me his Christian name, Floricel - so may Floricel not bear to be without your voice, without your face or your eyes. Have you brought it? I have brought it. As shines the gold, dragon gold, so may love strike him and on his way stop him at - tell me your name, Virginica - pffff, preserve you from the evil eye - at Virginica's window. Hair of a kitten's teat, hair of a billy goat's head, you washed yourself, you cleaned yourself, you took Floricel. You listen to old Ranga: by Thursday, he shall be yours.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
