We've been texting a lot, thousands of messages. I felt like I had found my soulmate. We learned a lot of things about each other, but we did not know anything about the chemistry of our bodies, nothing about our sexual compatibility. He wanted to meet in a hotel room. I accepted under one condition, that we would not talk, not even a word. To allow my skin to explore his skin in silence, to make love uninhibited in a foreign bed. We wrote back to me that he could love me all my life, without uttering a world. Because he is mute.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
