I watch her every day through the telescope hidden behind the curtain, through the 3 windows of the flat across the street. We've both been single for several years but I loved her for a very long time. I tried writing love poems for her on paper planes but they all missed the target. I wanted to shout desperately that I still loved her when she went out the window for a ciggy but the wind distorted my voice. She got mad at me for shouting at her, took out her wedding ring, threw it into the void between us and then she drew the curtains.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
