First they renovated, then she moved in. I stalked her furtively so she won\'t notice. I liked when she came home tired and slid through the room, dropping her garments until she was just a shadow. But in the morning too, when she woke up late and ran out with her hair dishevelled. One night I thought she saw me. I pulled back at once and didn\'t come close to the window for a few days. I dreamt of her at night, dishevelled. Then the courier brought me the brand-new telescope. On the box was written: If you start doing something, do it well. Your neighbour across the street.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
