When I was 6, I found out that everyone dies, even me. This thought wouldn't let me sleep for a long time, and I wasn't even in the mood for playing. I decided to break the news to others. The first one I told was a neighbor, whom, staying between us, I couldn't stand. His eyes went wide open and he ran to his mother crying. I started to like it, so during a break I gathered all my kindergarten classmates and gave them a presentation about the grim reaper. I wasn't the only one who couldn't sleep anymore.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
