Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, get up, the school is starting, my mother recited at every sunrise. My brother was awake before me. He was hopping by the bed, the little biscuit, shouting and pulling my coverlet: Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, get up, get up. I stood up with a smile, imagining orange spheres and citrus aromas. The mornings were always cold, it was still dark outside, my father left before we woke up and my mother had to take 2 buses to the village school. My brother left to the school\'s house holding her hand. I was the last one leaving the house, closing the door with the hung key around my neck.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
