Crying with hunger. Crying to lose the pacifier. Crying from boredom. He stirred a lot of baby interest between commercials around one. I'm crying it's wet. Crying again? It's three in the morning, bamboo, it's very early or very late. He miraculously calms down in his arms, but his eyes are gleaming black beads and the altitude sensor is activated, ready for alert. What a trick you are. Do you think it's true, bamboo, you whispered to the hot pile, that I'm going to think about these nights with love and I'll miss them?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
