Do you remember how it happened? the android asked him with an equal smile. No, he answered, confused.
There's nothing left? Look around.
Regrets, sadness? With his pockets inside out, he answered with a smile, zero.
Do you know where you left them? Hmm, he vaguely pointed behind him, somewhere there.
You need another 30 minutes in the holographic room. Yeeees, he said enthusiastically.
In the dark, an Edenic world appeared on the walls and the warm voice resumed: You're perfect. You're home. All is joy. You don't need anything else. You're complete.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
