I just wanted to see them again, but I did not mention the year. I found myself at prom, in the next village, where soldiers were buzzing around her. She was refusing them one by one taking a peek at him, the man who was playing chess and smoking cigars. I pretended I felt dizzy and fainted on their chess board. The man sighed, gallantly helped me to stand up and then invited her to dance, finally. Before I teleported back I saw them kissing. How nice is to see in person your grandparents' first kiss.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
