When I was a child I used to run barefoot, cling to carts, not to cars. When I was a child I used to go outside and play, climb on trees, not on the social ladder. When I was a child I used to run on fields, eat sunflower, not food from Mega. When I was a child I used to enjoy ice cream, I did not care I would get fat. When I was a child I had the marks of an entire funny day on my body, not stretch marks. When I was a child I wanted to grow up. When I grew up I closed my eyes to be a child again. When I opened them again I was still here in Bucharest.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
