Mixing the minced meat with garlic, eggs and herbs: Yo, this neighbor lady is killing me with her superstitions. Do not take the trash out in the evening or you'll be poor for 5lives, don't spill the salt, or you'll eat unsalted food for 100 years; don't cross the path of a black cat, because it brings bad luck. Meantime, she finished the mixture, the meatballs are shaped on the plate, the oil is heated. You must be very stupid to believe any of this nonsense. Check out the meatballs, how many do we have? 13. 13? Bring the dog and give it one, poor thing.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
