Because our relationship was creaking, I started writing a novel with a pseudonym. Every night, I would sit at my desk and write. I created a character, Ana, I invented a world, somewhere, on another planet, I put all my feelings there, among the tabs. Slowly, I began to disappear into the book altogether. After the last point, I took the novel to a publishing house; it was published. My boyfriend bought the novel from the bookstore. He fell in love with Ana. Every night, he takes her with him to bed.
We sleep in separate rooms.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
