What happened?. The manager of the nuclear power plant asked. Some power cord failed. The issue was that the cooling system was off and the core was getting hotter. The hall was all hustle and bustle as if there had been a revolution. The head of the tech dept was struggling to take care of the situation. And he managed to get things back to normal. The alarm went off and everybody returned to the post. The general manager shook hands with the head of the tech dept, with the other hand he arranged his hair, and with the third one he pressed the button that turned on the plant.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
