A tyrant. How could such a churlish and uneducated man seize power? By deceit. By corrupting everything that would've faced him, by making alliances with other phoney intellectuals, by fooling the easily manipulated mass with masquerade and volatile rewards. By reinventing the mob. Poor and uneducated. The former and the latter were the only ones in the country. We all ended up hating somebody. The bullet, that small thing that cracked his skull open, will get lost in history. I keep the barrel. Let the slaughter begin.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
