In another life, I would have been a hot coffee in the hand of a tram driver, and in the next one a seagull obscuring the sunrise. Then, at reincarnation, a breast full of milk for an unwanted baby. A crutch of a crippled man, a poppy-butterfly pressed into a book, a date after a long-distance love, the gallop of wild horses, a hand on a feverish forehead, the song of a clam, a fallen leaf, a river stone, a happy man. After the twelfth ring of the bell, the demon is holding me at gunpoint because I couldn't be all that.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
