I was on a yacht, a cruise won at a competition I didn't know existed. I sipped my glass of whiskey and talked to a young lady I had spent the night with. When I was feeling better, the captain appeared and told us that the ship was slowly filling with water and it would sink. We started to fidget, but the captain told us we had no escape. I decided to commit suicide, so the ship has no lifeboats, coils or vests. And you want to kill us all? Well, if you only knew for how long I was struggling to gather all those who hurt me.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
