It was a summer storm, at two o'clock the rainbow came out and you appeared, my angel", her mom would say the story on every birthday. It wasn't until she was 21 that she had the courage to tell her. "I love women", she told her directly. "Girl, what are you saying?" "I love a woman. Mom, this is Ada." She crossed herself and spat on her way to the door. "You filth." The foreign voice cut her roots and wings. They haven't spoken since. Love stories lived with stumps of soul have passed. On her birthday comes the summer storm. And for her it's winter.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
