Hello. You're really beautiful. How old are you? asks a bold youngster a friend from my Vama Veche entourage. 38. Hooow? And what are you doing in Vama? My friend gave a vexed smile and the kid wandered away. What do ya' think about that? How old I am? These kids think Vama is all theirs. I don't understand. Is Vama the 18 year olds'? Better for him to chill. I will be here at 58 too. Can someone say that Vama is only theirs or the teenagers'? That's discrimination. Vama is ours, all of us, no matter the age.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
