You promised you'd take me somewhere beautiful. What is this? Dust everywhere, these alehouses play only music for stoners. Cauldron food, everybody drinks and smokes, everybody does whatever they want on the beach. Look over there at those naked people. Look at that, what hair he has, you can't even tell if it's a boy or a girl. Reading beach. But who does read nowadays? Look at that, he fell asleep beside the totem. Those dogs are mating on the beach. A couple of baldachins. Yes, but these people are free, I wanted to say to her. She had already left, hitchhiking.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
