Let's couuuunt, screams a mob of children. School starts on the 15th, or when the summer vacation makes you mature by one year. Ana and Dana make the first pair, they hide behind a bush, pick a number and wait for someone to guess it. Ana's eyes beg for Alex's lips to guess the number. 7, he says with confidence. Yeeees, giggles Ana, with the sand in her hair and the scrapes on her elbows. It's her first crush. Alex takes her hand, they hide behind the bush, they pick a number, he kisses her shyly and they laugh quietly. Flowers, girls and boys.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
