You've probably heard lots of stories with vampires. The only thing I have in common with these creatures is that we cannot stay at sun. If the sun touches me, then I die. I was diagnosed with a rare disease that obliges me to live at night. I only do night shifts. I love winter because it gets dark early. I felt normal today. As I was hiding from the sun behind the curtains, I saw a child playing with the ball on the beach. When he hit the ball, the 2 seconds the ball was covering the sun offered me enough time to breathe in the air of a summer morning.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
