My day just started really great. An old lady stepped on my foot while shouting: 'Come get raspberries from granny's yard', a pony baked a loaf on my diary, a couple whose skin was covered in tattoos teach their offspring while spitting the peel of seeds in the water. But this is not it. A plane drawing an advertising banner for Nutline is crossing the sky, meaning that spitting peels of seeds is a national sport. I check in a hotel. A scattered picture of the sea and happy people sunbathing is lying on the bed. Remember: no matter what, keep your balance.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
