With her big eyes she instructs me to draw her something, I outline a big man and a little man and out of nothing a magical journey is born, overwhelmed with emotion I desert the chessboard in my mind, the little girl with braided tails inside each of us teaches me to talk to dolphins, she yelps, she shows me her little fists glued together and I become a colouring book, she scribbles feelings far outside my outline, for two years, since she was born, I've been a toy in her hands and I'm frightened of the day she'll lose me somewhere in the world.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
