The newspaper had tripled its revenue under the Iraq Stories heading. Thousands of women responded to the anonymous soldier. Starting with a quote, he was writing about war and love. Literary pearls. Anne was crying while reading. She knew the quotes, they were from the letters she had composed in high school. Do you read Life? he rang Chloe. Oh, this caught you too, her colleague laughed. No, but I heard about the writer. I have no idea who he is. John is in Iraq too, but he writes to me three lines, he doesn't compose like he did when you were replying in my behalf.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
