Old man, take 3 lei, run to the comparison, take a package of Mărășești and candy for the change. Glued drops that untied as lumps. I was running, cleverly dodging the nervous dogs from Valea Stânii. In the evening he sat on the porch smoking cigarettes, with mirabelle's brandy or pomace. Lixandra, bring some sugar to give the boy a taste. At bedtime, grandma, give me some candy please. I fell asleep and woke up with it unmelted, stuck in the roof of my mouth. They both died of asthma and heart disease. Today I smoke, I drink, I am toothless and I am a cardiac too.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
