I threw myself to my knees in the middle of the living room and burst into tears. The doctor's words kept ringing in my ears: if you took the morning-after pill, you can't keep the baby. It would be an ill child, a deformed one. You must have an abortion. I don't want to do this, Lord, I screamed at the top of my lungs. I don't want to. What should I do? I beg you, God, give me a sign. Then my phone beeped. A text: On the 1st of July, fly with your child to exotic destinations with BluAir's special offer. I nearly passed out from fear. Then I flew away.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
