I've waited a hell of a long time for you, God. But you just wouldn't come. You became only an idea for me. A chimera, a breeze, a lonesome shadow. I searched for you until I got tired. In anything and everything. Some said that you were there. I went to see you in the biggest dumps built in your name. Not a trace. I went to the caves of the saints. In vain. I arrived. But only after you had left. Until one day, when I gave up looking. Then I heard you. You were standing on my right, laughing. That's where you were. You were just acting out. And so was I.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
