He was sitting on the couch and licking an ice cream cone when he started lecturing me: When you wanted to get into Med School, I fulfilled your request; You quit after a year. Then you begged me to find you a man that would love you. I gave you one. But you didn't like him cuz he was dumb. Then you asked me for a smart one. Done deal. He was not good enough cuz he was poor. I found you a rich one. You didn't want him, cuz he was too old. What more do you want? I want you to pray that ice cream stain comes out, or else you'll have to fix me with another couch.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
