A few years ago, your daddy and I were all alone. We prayed to God for you to come. For a while I thought he can't hear me and I was a bit upset. I went with your daddy to the doctor where we found out that I needed a few pills. Then you appeared in your mommy's belly. We were so happy, we were already in love with you. Then mommy needed a few more pills. We asked Him not to take you away from us and to stay near us for the rest of our life. The little boy lifted his gaze and cuddled closer to his mother's heart. In the quiet living-room, a warm light was watching over them smiling.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
