When the Heaven was left empty and all His wrath had passed, the Lord was all alone. Everything turned out well: the water and the dry land, the fish and flowers, even the serpent He made exemplary, only with man He failed. He was lying in His hammock with His hand underneath His head when it occurred to Him. He wanted to hear no more of His rib, so he made new children from His eyelid and called them angels. He was happy, He cradled His children, He kissed their injured knees, and He made beads of stars. When they no longer wanted to go to sleep without stories, he made the moon and that did the trick.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
