He was so light that I could carry him in my arms. I saw how life was draining out of his body. Then I wiped my tears off, and opened the saloon door in which he was waiting for his death. In that night I pulled the cannula thread and carried him on the back. We went stargazing. We laughed while I was counting the times between his breaths. He showed me the star that was waiting for him. We returned with the Great Chariot and our love broke into Perseids.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
