Come here, Santa's punks, I shall tell you about Geta, the sharp mare I cared for when I was like you. How much you see around Dabuleni, only watermelons, wasn't there the shame not to eat enough? Towards evening, I would harness Geta to the well-oiled cart and go out into the field, she knew how to step slowly and kept her snoring only for her, until I reached the yard with the pray. She is the first one eating, then us. She's been cripple for a week, Massa, he was telling policeman the second day and the mare knew to limp when hearing Massa.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
