Sitting by the fountain, he removed his hat and wiped his forehead. Lago di Como was shining underneath the sunlight like mad. Boats, vacationists, ducks, a day like any other. He had one more newspaper and a letter to deliver. He got up and started to the Via Plinio. Hehe, tonight he will pretend to be surprised by the retirement party, and then he would have enough time to feel useless. Corriere at nr.4, the envelope in the middle of nowhere, at nr.39. A little later, il postino was charging his Vespa with a sardonic smirk. In his wake, a white envelope was floating through the ducks.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
