If you could sense her, would you put obstacles in her way? Would you come up with a story for her to listen to and make her forget your addresses? Or would you lure her with a coffee and promise her to change? She would smile patiently at you, but she would bring her little finger closer to your forehead. Would your voice tremble when you told her that your luggage was not done and that you still had dreams in your pockets? Would you beg her to grant you a respite for another moment, be it sweet or bitter anyway? Would you take a deep breath, finding out that there is still time? For a coffee and a cigarette.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
