I was at work and I was minding my own business when my phone rang. There was a lawyer in France on the phone who wanted to see me. Curious, I have nothing to do there. A few days later I saw the man and then I remembered that my ancestors are from France. I had just inherited a fortune and a castle in the Loire Valley. I was the new duke of Yves, the sole heir of the late duke. I decided to move with my family to France. After all, I hadn't studied French in vain, now I could use it every day.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
