I shook you insanely, you looked dead, even though you had no marks on your body, and I looked alone on the ground. You were smiling in your sleep, I was trying to tell you that it was the end of the world, to wake you up, to restart the planet. When you opened your eyes, I felt like the gates of Heaven seemed to open. You called me darling and opened your legs widely, in a fruitful gesture, in front of which I had no power not to sink. You were the Eve of the new genesis, I was the Adam who had to generate the new children to the new earth. Don't give me Cain and Abel.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
