I rummaged for her. I woke up with clutches in my chest, surrounded by a muffled scream. I felt broken. I was pulling an incomplete body with the flesh in sight. I had to find her to tell her what I didn't get to. Things don't stay that way, my love. I'm going to turn the world upside down just like the heaven in hell. Suddenly, my flesh leaves like a magnet and sticks to the missing piece. I found her. She was not breathing. I shouted at her, I shook her, I despaired, breathed and I could feel her first breath. She was alive. My God, I was alive. I bend down and whisper to them fondly: Did I tell you so?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
