Then my eyes frozen for eternity. The words were clear to me, the child had died, but I couldn't bring myself to understand. How can they be correlated? Not even at the death of God, they couldn't be burnt away from a parents' heart. Nights on end I have searched questions in his grave, then, at every sunrise, in the light coming through the salon's window, I would trace him a rabbit with the sleeves of my shirt which were hanging soullessly, and somewhere from the realm of shadows, he was clearly laughing to me. Daddy, daddy, you found Mr. Rabbit.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
