Everyone disappeared, one by one. I cast them away when I began to cast myself away, when I fall and crumbled. Inert, silent, trampled upon, with a mouthful of grass here and there. This is all that I managed to keep alive, the hope that one day I will be a forest in which people could find their tranquility. I do not know if I will ever be e tree, let alone an entire forest. The trees are too tall to catch up with them, but today I managed to rise myself up to the blade of grass.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
