There was only the two of us left. Around us, in what seemed to be a great calmness, were all sorts of remains of the previous: soil fringes, broken dreams, intros from songs, sparkling shards of sky. He was staring at me. I understood from his eyes that he felt very lonely. I could see that he was trying to say something, but The word didn't want to come out of his mouth. Don't be afraid, I told him. I'm always with you grab on tight to the cane of my aorta and come. Walking on water can't be forget. Never.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
