The great BOOM came at the most inappropriate moment. The unfortunate event could have happened in any other day. But, no. It was meant to be today, exactly today. Everything around was red. The ceiling, the walls, the closets, the bloody thing got even on the fridge. My entire face is covered, and my just styled hair, looks like a rotten fox fur. I quickly grab the phone and call him crying. My love, I know that today I have promised you a romantic dinner, but would't you like to paint the walls instead? I pity the fool who would do home-made tomato paste ever again.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
