Wave 25, East Wall. Forgive me for not writing, but I have suffered serious losses. I've been working shifts for six hours, since oxygen was rationalized. I often think that you never complained, even though, on the front, you operated in more difficult conditions. Last night the virus spoke to me. I didn't dream, be sure of it. Since I have accepted it, my fever has dropped. He says I'm compatible. If I'll be a good host, he'll take me to his planet. I'm waiting for good news, Dad. He sealed the message in an envelope and handed it to the courier.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
