Dear Lena. Oh, Leny. I have been leaning my sleep on autumn wind-swayed linden tree leaves for two nights. Their rattle troubles me in C major. Well, that and Adrian Wonderbuns, who eats gem and shits out plums, I can hear it all the way here, in my army dorm. 'I live my days like this', he says, and I cry like a wimp, cleaning toilets. Army, I said, it'll make me a man, I said, but how I wish I could just rub my vigour in between your tits. Miss Lena's mom, if you'd opened the envelope, I can assure you that, when I was in civilian clothing, I didn't rub anything on her bosom.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
