I left without saying a single word to him. I left him sleeping, I snuck under the door and left myself be carried away by destiny to a new love. I never looked back because I never wished to be turned back. I can still hear him calling from me in the dead of night from time to time. He seems to be a phantom of the past. I sometimes imagine that he is looking at the moon at the same time as I am, and then I draw, in the air, Goodbye. We will always be each other's unrequited love. Alike a long-echoed secret that haunts us and leaves a metallic taste in our hearts.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
