Sometimes I wish someone would discover it. I put in there everything I didn't want to be mine: dark thoughts, pain, loneliness, disappointment, helplessness. The last ones I crammed under the door for fear they'd jump out at me. Yesterday I had to go in there to put something else somewhere, on a shelf or under the mat. I got to the door, hand on the doorknob, but didn't open the door. I'll go and break the glass, maybe they'll fly out, maybe the sun will chase them away and I'll be able to forgive myself. And so I turned to hypnosis.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
