Two square meters with the smell of doughnuts where the Mrs cooked for the whole neighbourhood, because we all came for the smell. When she went on vacation, she'd leave sweet poems in our windows, so we wouldn't miss her cooking too much and she'd comfort us with words. Her door has been closed for a few days, and yesterday two flowers and a note appeared, but it is not Mrs' school handwriting and the message is rather bitter. Today it's full of candles and a printed poster on the wall reads Donut Shop for Sale. I hope at least heaven smells like doughnuts.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
