May my hair grow long enough for ponytails. And maybe my boobies as well, but not as much as Aunt Olimpia's. May I pass my exams with the best grade possible. May I finish my studies as soon as possible. May him come to my doorstep and take me by my wing. May I never see him again in my life. Oh, maybe at least one more time. May the nine months pass and the miracle appear. Miss, your ponytails turned white since you have started napping there, here comes your train, the second carriage, the seat number 32. Thank you, you saved me from the past's grip. I get up and slowly walk through the railway station's steam. I get ahead of myself a little.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In December 2021, the group has 7.750 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
